Here is a model Autogyro built from a plan and modified using Bucks modern building materials, Carbon fibre round & square hollow tube, 1.0mm Glass fibre sheet, 25g Glass fibre woven cloth, Bucks Single-Part Coating system & Bucks Formula 50 Epoxy Resin and Hardener. Kevlar® thread has been used for binding joints. The Kevlar® thread was painted black to stop the Sun UV-rays from degrading the thread which happens over a period of time. The Autogyro has carbon fibre used in the twin booms, in the homemade head unit and in the 3 pushrods. Carbon fibre was used to replace some of the wooden parts which made the model stronger and lighter. The Autogyro balsa body, tail, fins & rudders has been covered with 25g glass fibre woven cloth and 'wetted' with Bucks Single-Part Coating system for strength, lightness and finish.
The 3 paddles are made from balsa and has a carbon fibre strip inserted in the middle of the paddle for rigidity, then the balsa is sanded to a aerofoil section then covered with 25g glass fibre woven cloth 'wetted' with Bucks Formula 50 Epoxy Resin and Hardener applied with a brush to both sides of the paddle at the same time to prevent any distortion. This material used is for higher strength. The paddles are very strong and still quite light even after balancing.
1.0mm thickness glass fibre sheet has been used for reinforcing the rear tail skid and has lightening holes drilled. Part of the head unit has 1.0mm thickness glass fibre sheet used.
The paint used on the model is Acrylic.
The Autogyro has a 1000kv outrunner brushless motor, 40A esc, 3cell Li-Po battery for powering the model, uses 2 servos for the homemade carbon fibre head unit and 1 servo for the 2 rudders.
