Composite Home Build Chevy Special.
Composite component car, from start to finish was six and a half years to build. The work was carried out most evenings and weekends.
We went for the ABS component car because the body was the best on the market at that time and the space frame chassis was designed and built by a racing car company who also made the similar space frame chassis for a GT40 sports car.
One year was wasted waiting for parts which never turned up due to the car supplier ABS (Auto Buildup Services) went bust a year into the project, which meant we couldn't buy the parts for the project.
Various reinforcing materials by Bucks-Composites has been used.
The aerofoil rear wing with eye level brake light is home designed, built from scratch using Bucks-Composites materials to bond items and cover the wing.
This car project came with no wiring diagrams or build manual.
Where possible we tried to manufacture the parts ourself even down to our garage. Our thanks go out to Dave Harrison for supplying the windscreen, ally curved door window frames & curved door window glass.
This car isn't a true replica copy but has our own improvements which we have carried throughout the building of the car.
New for 2021 is from Renault to a second-hand Porsche Transaxle upgrade replacement.
